Crew Member Presumed Dead After Tug Sinking

A tug boat crew member was presumed dead after a search and rescue operation of the River Thames failed to find the man.

Crane and life raft near where Thames tug boat capsized

An investigation has been launched after the boat sank off Greenwich Pier in south London on Friday.
Two people were rescued when the vessel, which was towing a barge with a crane on it, capsized.
A major search and rescue operation involving the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), the Port of London Authority (PLA), the police and fire brigade was called off after four hours.
The PLA is now beginning the first stages of an operation to raise the sunken tug.
Friday's accident follows the death on the Thames last week of Ben Woollacott, 19, a crewman on the Woolwich Ferry.
He fell from the ferry and under its propeller while mooring ropes were being untied.
The teenager was the son of Stephen Woollacott, owner of a Thames riverboat company.
